This weekend event was run for the first time in 2015 at the request of people who had been on the Credit Crunch in April. It turned out to be a great success, with a terrific party atmosphere prevailing throughout and it was replicated in 2016.
I've decided to run it again to lift all our spirits after a rather difficult year. The formatа is the same as previous but аthe decorations at Abbey Cwm Hir are different each Christmas. That said, itТs difficult to take everything in on just one visit!
So…………..! I’ve negotiated again with the four-star Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells for a three-night dinner, bed & breakfast break, with traditional Christmas dinner on the Sunday evening, and to include use of the spa and heated swimming pool, at the incredibly low price of just £245 per person based on two people sharing. This is the same as it was five years ago! The guided tour of Abbey Cwm Hir Hall on the Saturday morning is also included in the package!
The offer is only available to people who are on the mailing list and priority is being given to those who have been on tours, but places are limited so if you wish to attend please act quickly as the closing date is October 30th.
If you have attended any of the events based at the Metropole you need no introduction to the ambience and food and the eccentricity of the owners of Abbey Cwm Hir and incredible displays in each of the fifty-two rooms. Each room will be decorated for the Christmas period so I guarantee even those who visited before will once more emerge with heads shaking in disbelief!

The itinerary is as follows:
Friday, December 4th. Arrivals at the 4-star Metropole Hotel & Spa during the day,followed by dinner at 7.30pm.
Saturday, December 5th. After a leisurely breakfast we depart to arrive at Abbey Cwm HirHall for 10.30am. Nestling in a picturesque valley this amazing building, built in 1834, was purchased in 1997 in a semi-derelict state by Paul & Victoria Humpherston and restored over a nine year period. Virtually every room has a different theme and you will emerge from the guided tour shaking your head Ц you definitely will not have seen anything like it before!
A short walk away is the tiny hamlet of Abbey Cwm Hir itself, along with the ruins of the 12th century abbey, once the biggest in Wales and dwarfing that at St. Davids in Pembrokeshire. If the weather is fine itТs worth investigating.
The afternoon is free to explore the region and perhaps view the Red Kite feeding at Rhyader.
Dinner will be at 7.30pm.
Sunday, December 6th. A day to chill out but ifyou feel like a little run out then perhaps the Elan Valley, or even the book mecca at Hay-on-Wye might be a possibility.
Traditional Christmas dinner, with all trimmings, will be served at 7.30pm.
Monday, Decemberа 7th.ааааа Departureа forаа home, but if you wish to stay an extra night a special rate of just г65 per person, dinner, bed, and breakfast applies.
WINTER SPECIAL. To reiterate, the cost for the event, after serious bartering, is just г245 per person, based on two people sharing. Single supplement г25 per night.
